Leaders in exploration oceanography

Huxlabs is currently conducting research into seabed seep detection using multibeam echo sounder. We believe that seep-detection will provide a early hydrocarbon indicator for oil and gas exploration companies.

Using the same data that is generated from seep hunting, Huxlabs has developed a workflow that can provide operators with a “pre-bid hazard survey”. This pre-bid hazard survey indicates the likelihood of seabed hazards that would make drilling conditions difficult. There is nothing worse that leasing a block with an excellent reservoir and then not being able to drill in it.

Erick Huchzermeyer – Hazard Survey Specialist

Erick has more than 15 years of experience in offshore hazard survey (high resolution geophysical survey) and several years of seismic and survey work previous to that. Currently, he is studying gas seep detection using Multibeam and how to integrate seep locations with underlying geology to assist in exploration for hydrocarbons. He is also developing python arcpy scripts to integrate hazard survey datasets with the new Seabed Survey Data Model GIS schema. His recent jobs include working as a geologist for GEMS Inc. (a division of Forum Energy Technologies), while there he was an offshore survey representative for Shell, Noble Energy, and Deep Gulf Energy, and wrote several geohazard reports for Dof Subsea, Deep Gulf Energy, and Chevron.

Past projects of note include several client representative jobs worldwide and several party chief positions. He also has been the lead on several SOW and reporting documentation projects.

He has a bachelors degree from Texas A&M Galveston in Marine Science and a Masters degree from Texas A&M in oceanography. He resides in Houston.
